Henan's Total Grain Output Reaches Record High
1365.16亿斤！河南粮食总产量首次跨越1350亿斤台阶
Henan has made major contribution to improving national food security. Approved by the National Bureau of Statistics, Henan's grain output reached a record high of 68,258,000 tons (136.516 billion jin; 1 jin [China] = 0.5 kg), an increase of 1.9 percent or 1,304,000 tons (2.608 billion jin) over the past year, according to the data released by the Survey Office of the National Bureau of Statistics in Henan on December 13.

After four consecutive years of stabilization at over 130 billion jin, Henan's grain output exceeded 135 billion jin for the first time.
这是我省粮食总产量连续第四年稳定在1300亿斤以上，并首次跨越1350亿斤台阶。
"Given the complex and severe situation at home and abroad due to the COVID-19 pandemic this year, the Party committees and governments at all levels across Henan have been building up their capacity to supply food and strived to achieve a new breakthrough in grain output with the goal of safeguarding national food security," said a source from the Survey Office of the National Bureau of Statistics in Henan.
“今年以来，在新冠肺炎疫情突发等内外部复杂生产环境条件下，全省各级党委、政府把维护国家粮食安全作为重要政治责任，持续提升粮食供给保障能力，奋力实现了我省粮食生产的新突破。”国家统计局河南调查总队有关负责人说。
According to the survey, the provincial total area that grows crops has increased 63.8 thousand mu (1 mu [China] = 0.067 hectares) year-on-year to 161.0819 million mu with an average yield per mu of 423.75 kg, up 7.9 kg over the past year.
调查结果显示，2020年，河南全年粮食播种面积为16108.19万亩，比上年增加6.38万亩；粮食平均亩产423.75公斤，比上年增加7.9公斤。
To be specific, while the total area that grows summer crops has been declined, the total output has amounted to 75.075 billion jin with a growth of 167 million jin year-on-year, showing a stable trend with slight increase. Besides, the total area that grows autumn crops has been expanded to end its continuous decline since 2016, which explained the great yield of 61.441 billion jin with an increase of 2.441 billion jin over the last year.
从数据来看，我省夏粮播种面积下降，生产保持持平略增态势，总产量为750.75亿斤，比上年增产1.67亿斤；秋粮播种面积增加，结束了自2016年以来河南秋粮播种面积持续下降的趋势。秋粮实现较大幅度增产，总产量614.41亿斤，比上年增加24.41亿斤。
Judging from the varieties, the output of wheat, maize and rice have been increased. Specifically, the average yield of wheat per mu and its total output have been respectively increased by 0.9 and 0.3 percent despite 0.6 percent reduction in its sown area, while both maize and rice have realized "triple increase" in sown area, average yield per mu and total output, laying a solid foundation for the year's bumper harvest.
从粮食作物各品种生产情况看，小麦、玉米、水稻三大高产作物均实现增产。其中小麦生产在播种面积减少0.6%的情况下，平均亩产和总产量分别比上年增长0.9%和0.3%；玉米、水稻生产均实现播种面积、平均亩产和总产量的“三增”，为全年粮食生产再获丰收奠定了基础。
The new breakthrough in grain output in Henan this year was made by concerted efforts, effective prevention and control of diseases and pests across the province, together with generally favorable weather conditions. "Henan hasn't achieved such an impressive increase in the yield of autumn crops with stable growth momentum for many years," said the source from the Survey Office of the National Bureau of Statistics in Henan.
